Can Men Wear Pink?

Pink is a great color for princesses, baby girls, and the self-proclaimed “biggest rock star of them all.”  Wait, what?

That’s right.  Kanye West, purveyor of style, can rock a hot pink sweater.  And how about Jay Gatsy, American literary hero, portrayed by both Leo and Redford, looking dapper in a pink suit.

“Okay,” you might say, “a style-conscious rapper and a fictitious character from the early 1900’s can get away with pink, but I have my eye on the corner office.  Pink is just not going to get me there.”  To you and any other doubters out there, I present you two very powerful men using pink to make a statement: Dick Cheney and Bill Clinton.

Sure, these politicians aren’t wearing large articles of clothing in pink, but that’s just the thing–pink isn’t only for bold fashion statements.  A light pink shirt paired with a gray suit in the summer lets people know you can be cool while the temperature outside is hot.  A dark pink tie or pocket square with a blue suit in the winter says you know how to avoid the winter doldrums.

If you don’t feel ready to make a bold statement, start small.  How about a pair of diamond cuff links with pink diamond accents?  These days diamonds are for more than just engagement rings, and a pair of blue, brown, or even gray diamonds (yes, diamonds can be naturally gray!) look striking when paired with pink diamonds.  Just picture these brown diamond studs as a pair of cuff links–the pink diamonds glinting in the light every time you move your arm to sign a document, shake hands with the CEO, or swype a quick text to your incredible wife or girlfriend.

You don’t have to be Kanye West to pull off pink, you just have to have good taste.
