3 Reasons Pink Diamonds Are So Hot Right Now

pink diamonds

We love pink diamonds for the obvious reasons: they’re pretty, rare, valuable, super gorgeous…you know the deal. But did you know that there are currently three major reasons all eyes are on pink colored diamonds? No? Don’t worry. We’ve got the scoop and we’re willing to share.

All Eyes on Pink Diamonds

1. Jewelry Auctions

The jewelry industry and enthusiasts alike keep tabs on the auctions to understand the value and demand of important pieces. Many rare colored diamonds end up in bidding wars at Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Bonhams and more. Recently, pink diamond items have garnered a lot of attention and earned significant estimates and hammer prices. Take a look at some of the beauties below, but scroll at your own risk. We can’t be held responsible for diamond envy. Hehe

2. They’re Unique

We’ve seen tons of celebrity engagement rings these past few months and a lot of them featured yellow diamonds. While we absolutely love canary bling, if you want to be different and a style tastemaker, go for pink! It’s pretty, feminine and fresh. In a sea of white diamonds, you’ll make a statement. Ditch the typical diamond studs or solitaire pendant and kick it up a notch with pink diamond jewelry.

3. The 2015 Argyle Tender

Have you seen the Argyle tender stones yet?! Holy sh*t! They’re incredible.

If you aren’t familiar with Argyle pink diamonds yet, read this.

So the tender happens once a year and boy, oh boy is this one a doozy. There are FOUR red diamonds and two really special pinks that I can’t help drooling over. “Hero” stones are highlighted for their extreme rarity due to size, color and shape. They give them really cool names to make them even more special and this year’s theme is centered around ballet.  The Argyle Spectre™ is a 1.93 carat shield shaped Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink diamond and the Argyle Élevé™ is a 1.44 carat emerald cut Fancy Intense Pink diamond.

I can only imagine what these eye-popping baubles will go for, but I hope we get to see them set in some incredible jewelry in the future. It seems like such a shame to keep them tucked away in a vault somewhere. Yes, they are investments, but their beauty should be enjoyed and shared! Am I right?!
