Graff purchased the rough diamond, which weighed 190.72 carats, during a trip to Kimberley, South Africa, in 2005. He had it cut and polished by master cutter Nino Bianco the following year. The diamond, originally named “The Dream Diamond,” made its worldwide debut at Kensington Palace in London in October 2006 while set in a pendant attached to a necklace consisting of smaller colorless pear-shaped diamonds.

Diamonds of this size and color intensity are one in a million and are often obtained for investment purposes. Since natural colored diamonds have steadily increased in value, they make an excellent choice for alternative investing.  Learn more about their investment potential with a recent study by Thomas Gelb.
